Ida B Wells-Barnett
Wells-Barnett was a prominent journalist, activist, and researcher, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In her lifetime, she battled sexism, racism, and violence. As a skilled writer, Wells-Barnett also used her skills as a journalist to shed light on the conditions of African Americans throughout the South.

Formerly enslaved, Sojourner Truth became an outspoken advocate for abolition, temperance, and civil and women’s rights in the nineteenth century. Honoring Black Men Who Fought For Freedom
Freedom fighters played a far-reaching role in igniting the hunger for independence and their contributions continue to be honoured worldwide.
Cuffy, National Hero of Guyana
Cuffy led one of the most famous slave revolts, the Berbice Slave Uprising, which began in February 1763. On two plantations on the Canje River in Berbice, African slaves rebelled, taking control of the Region. As plantation after plantation fell to the slaves, the European population fled; eventually only half of the Caucasians
The Berbice Slave Rebellion, which lasted for 10 months, marked the first large-scale attempt by a large group of enslaved people to win their freedom in Guyana. Significantly, it was also the first organized attempt to win freedom in the entire American continent.
Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr., National Hero of Jamaica
Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr. was born on August 17, 1887, in Saint Ann’s Bay, Jamaica. His father was a stonemason, and his mother was a domestic servant. As a young man, Garvey traveled and worked in several Latin American countries before relocating to London, England. He studied at Birkbeck College (University of London) and worked as a messenger and handyman for the African Times and Orient Review, a journal that emphasized Pan-African nationalism.
Garvey was known as the founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). Formed in Jamaica in July 1914, the UNIA aimed to achieve Black nationalism through the celebration of African history and culture. Through the UNIA, Garvey also pushed to support the "back to Africa" movement and created the Black Star Line to act as the Black-owned passenger line that would carry patrons back and forth to Africa.
In 1922, Marcus Garvey was charged with mail fraud in connection with a ship on the Black Star Line, Orion. Further pressure from J. Edgar Hoover and his department's investigations, negative press, and complaints from stockholders soon led to Garvey gaining a reputation as a swindler.
Congressional leaders had pushed for President Biden to pardon Garvey, with supporters arguing that Garvey’s conviction was politically motivated and an effort to silence the increasingly popular leader who spoke of racial pride. After Garvey was convicted, he was deported to Jamaica, where he was born. He died in 1940.
The Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. said of Garvey: “He was the first man, on a mass scale and level” to give millions of Black people “a sense of dignity and destiny.”
Martin Luther King Jr., Civil Rights Hero of the United States of America
Martin Luther King Jr. was a prominent leader in the American civil rights movement. He was a Baptist minister, activist, and political philosopher who fought for civil rights through nonviolent resistance. He participated in the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, where he delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech.
No figure is more closely identified with the mid-20th century struggle for civil rights than Martin Luther King, Jr. His adoption of nonviolent resistance to achieve equal rights for Black Americans earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964.
"We are going to emancipate ourselves from mental slavery because whilst others might free the body, none but ourselves can free the mind".
Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr.

soul care
Soul care is a profound and essential practice that focuses on nurturing and maintaining the health of one's inner self, often referred to as the soul. This concept transcends mere self-care, as it delves deeper into the spiritual, emotional, and psychological aspects of an individual. Engaging in soul care involves a holistic approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit. It encourages individuals to explore their beliefs, values, and passions, fostering a sense of purpose and fulfillment in life.
Incorporating soul care into daily routines can take many forms, such as meditation, prayer, journaling, or spending time in nature. These activities provide individuals with the opportunity to reflect on their experiences, understand their emotions, and cultivate a deeper connection with themselves and the world around them. By prioritizing soul care, individuals can achieve a greater sense of inner peace, resilience, and overall well-being.
Additionally, soul care often emphasizes the importance of community and relationships. Engaging with others who share similar values or spiritual beliefs can create a supportive environment that nurtures personal growth and healing. This communal aspect can be vital, as it reminds individuals that they are not alone in their struggles and that there is strength in vulnerability and shared experiences.
Ultimately, soul care is not a one-time event but a continuous journey. It requires ongoing attention and dedication to nourish the soul, allowing individuals to thrive and flourish in all aspects of their lives. By embracing soul care, individuals can cultivate a deeper understanding of themselves, leading to a more meaningful and enriching life experience.

Did you know?
Did you know Apostle Delrene Fordyce was called at the tender age of 12?
Delrene Fordyce, is presently the Senior Pastor of Gospel Foundation International Healing Ministries, Inc., located in the Bronx, New York.
Pastor Fordyce was called at the tender age of 12, in Jamaica W.I. where she accepted Christ Jesus as her Lord and was baptized. She became actively involved by preaching with her mother, an evangelist, at small group meetings, choir rehearsals, and revival meetings. Two of the most influential people in her life- were her parents, the late Phanuel & Randolph Marrett, who imparted wisdom and knowledge to her through the power of the Holy Spirit, which enabled her to become a true servant of God. Her confirmation of her call to ministry came through prophecies, dreams, and visions.
In 2013 Pastor Fordyce originally was a member of the Gospel Foundation Church of God in The Bronx, NY. But, with her love for people, compassion for the sick and poor, and eagerness to see people fall in love with Jesus Christ to reach their maximum potential in life, she was led to establish her own ministry. Her mantra is to love God with all her heart, soul, and might, to demonstrate his love to others, and to “let justice roll on like a river, righteousness like a never-failing stream!” Amos 5:2-4.
Pastor Fordyce received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Childcare and Family Studies from SUNY at Stony Brook, NY. Additionally, a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from SUNY Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn, NY as well. Her vocation as a nurse and experience as a leader in the profession is an assets to her ministry.
August 2005, the call of God was quite evident in her life, when Pastor Fordyce enrolled in a Master of Divinity program at Alliance Theological School in Nyack, NY. Upon successful completion of her studies, could say with assurance, she had acquired the knowledge, wisdom, and skills to impart the love of Christ throughout the nation and the world. Also, it contributed greatly to her decision to become the pastor of a healing and deliverance ministry.
At the same time, Pastor Fordyce is internationally certified as an Entrepreneur Coach with a special emphasis on Marketing, Image & Branding. In addition, as a Women’s Issues & Diversity Trainer(CDT) from The Professional Women Network in Kentucky.
Did you know your child, 12 years or under, can get a special invitation to join Sister Sarah from Nairobi, Kenya, on the Bible Talk For Children's Kids panel?
